The World
An introduction to the Los Eisley Archive
It’s a familiar world, but slightly misaligned.
Parking lots and starships.
Suburbia and space opera.
Beneath the nostalgia runs something more contemporary: questions of power, media, American identity, and the strange overlap between fantasy and reality. That tension — between comfort and unease — drives the work.
The Los Eisley series reimagines Los Angeles through a parallel lens — part photography, part cinema, part satire — where cultural memory and science fiction occupy the same space.
Mr. 77, a London-born artist now based in Los Angeles, approaches the city as both insider and observer, drawn equally to its cinematic mythology and its mass-cultural imagination. Los Eisley is where those worlds meet.
Welcome to a wretched hive of scum, villainy,
and palm trees.
Los Eisley exists somewhere between memory and fiction — a sun-bleached Los Angeles caught somewhere in the late 1970s, yet still unfolding.
